Kenan Tekin is a research assistant at Yalova University. He has acquired a Ph.D. degree from the department of Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies at Columbia University with a dissertation entitled “Reforming Categories of Science and Religion in the Late Ottoman Empire”. Previously, he earned an M.A. degree in Religion from Duke University. Tekin’s research interests include longue durée study of Ottoman intellectual thought, history and philosophy of science and religion. Tekin is also interested in social and cultural approaches to modernization and secularization as well as genealogies of modern discourses.
